Mushrrafieh: Syrian authorities are ready to secure return of refugees

Minister of Social Affairs and Tourism, Ramzi Musharafieh, indicated that “the difficult circumstances in Lebanon and Syria in light of the spread of the “Covid-19″ pandemic and the difficult economic conditions make this file a priority,” hoping that this file would end soon.

In a statement to the Syrian “Al-Watan”, after his meeting with the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Faisal Al-Miqdad, Musharrafiya confirmed that his visit to Damascus came as a continuation of what was discussed during the conference on the return of Syrian refugees that was held last November in Damascus, as well as to place the Syrian government in the framework that Lebanon is working on in this context.

Musharrafieh considered that “joint coordination is required between the two countries to overcome any obstacle to their return.”

He also noted that “the Lebanese authorities are persuading the West to help the displaced in Syria just as they are helping them in Lebanon.”

In this context, the Minister of Social Affairs affirmed that the Syrian government has shown its full readiness to receive its citizens, and that its stance is firm on this issue.

He also indicated that the Syrian government is working to take serious steps in this file.
