New lawsuits besiege Al-Bitar… Detainees request the transfer of the case

The circle of lawsuits surrounding the judicial investigator in the Beirut port explosion file, Judge Tariq Al-Bitar, has expanded, and is no longer limited to the politicians accused in the file. Rather, it moved to the court of the detainees, who always supported his procedures and refused to replace him with another judge. Today, attorney Sakhr Al-Hashem submitted his representation on behalf of the former Director General of Beirut Port, Eng. Hassan Koraytem, and the Head of Port Security, Muhammad Al-Awf, who were arrested in the file, with a memorandum to the Sixth Chamber of the Criminal Court of Cassation, In it, he requested the transfer of the investigation from the hand of the farrier and the appointment of another judge for this task. The presenters of the memorandum justified the “obstacles facing Al-Bitar, and the huge number of response and litigation lawsuits filed against him from more than one party, which slows down investigations and prevents a decision on requests for the release of his agents and the rest of the detainees.”

The agent of Koraytem and Al-Awf preceded this step by the representative of the detainee, Muhammad al-Mawla, (the head of the port in the port), lawyer Khalil al-Mawla, who submitted a similar summons before the same Court of Cassation, and requested that the investigation be transferred from the hands of Judge Al-Bitar, and he justified the reason for “stopping the progress of investigations and preventing any further investigation.” File progress”. However, these lawsuits do not stop Al-Bitar from the file before the court issued a decision to accept or reject the lawsuits, unlike the lawsuits of response and litigation that froze the investigation about four months ago.
