Palestinian Labor Committee closes UNRWA office in Saida

Whereas the UNRWA administration keeps disregarding its duty towards Palestinian refugees in Lebanon in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the collapse of economic conditions and the high unemployment rate, the Palestinian Labor Committee in the Saida region closed the main office of UNRWA today, Tuesday 9-11-2021, in protest against the administration of the UNRWA to answer the demands of people in the emergency program, raise the percentage of beneficiaries of the special hardship cases program, and raise the hospitalization rate in light of the Corona pandemic and the collapse of the Lebanese currency.

In witness whereof, the Palestinian Labor Committee holds the UNRWA administration accountable for the absence of its role and call on the UNRWA administration and its Director General in Lebanon to immediately act to secure the following:

1- To secure the necessary funds in order to activate the emergency program.

2- To review the severe hardship program and raise the percentage of beneficiaries from 12% to 60% since the unemployment rate has reached 80% in light of the pandemic and the collapse of the Lebanese currency.

3- To find the most appropriate formulations to develop the educational process through the online system.

We won’t stop until the demands of our people are fulfilled.
