Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi
In his speech at Sunday Mass, Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al Rahi noted that “society has begun to live in a structure of sins that no one repents of, as if they had become sins without perpetrators.” They talk about corruption, but no one knows who the corrupt individuals are,” believing that “there is no way to establish a new life without faith and a determination to alter one’s way of thinking and behaving.”
Al-Rai believed that “political officials need hearts to dictate to them what they should do,” noting that “if the dialogue called for by the nation’s representatives takes place despite the tensions, it also requires coming to it without prejudgments and without imposing ideas and projects, and it also requires a spirit of detachment from personal and sectarian interests, adopting the constitution and considering it the only path to be followed, also requires framing the constitution.”
