Pope Francis is concerned about Lebanon

On Saturday, Pope Francis called for dialogue in light of the “tendency to withdraw in oneself” in light of the outbreak of Covid.

In a Christmas message from Saint Peter’s Square, he said: “At this stage of the epidemic… our ability to establish social relations is facing a difficult test. There is a growing tendency to withdraw into oneself.”

He added, “At the international level as well, there is a danger of avoiding dialogue…but only these tracks are capable of pushing towards conflict resolution and achieving lasting gains for all.”

Pope Francis affirmed that “Lebanon is experiencing an unprecedented economic and social crisis that it has not known in its history, and its circumstances are very worrying.”

He called, “Let us open ourselves to dialogue towards reconciliation and strength.”
