Preparations for post-Riad Salameh phase monitored by U.S. Treasury Department.

“Al-Liwaa” sources revealed that there will be an upcoming meeting of the Central Council at the Central Bank of Lebanon to discuss the fate of Circulars 151, 161, and 158. The meeting will also address the calculation of the 400 dollars in Lebanese pounds, as per the latest circular. The meeting will be attended by Governor Riad Salameh in order to establish working rules that either complement the ongoing efforts or take a different approach, considering the existing disagreements within the council. Previously, Salameh was responsible for regulating these matters, particularly regarding the exchange rate and the continuity or cancellation of the platform, while also striving to unify the exchange rate in accordance with the International Monetary Fund’s desires.

Furthermore, “Al-Liwaa” has learned that preparations for the post-Riad Salameh phase are being closely monitored by the U.S. Treasury Department. This includes strengthening the relationship with the First Deputy Governor Wissam Mansouri, who, according to the Monetary and Credit Law, assumes the governor’s powers in case of a vacancy in his position.
