Presidency of the Republic carries out an attack against Future Movement

The Information Office of the Presidency of the Republic issued a statement, in which it considered that “the Future Movement” continues, in conjunction with the ongoing contacts to form the government, its campaigns against the Presidency of the Republic at times, and President Aoun sometimes used phrases and descriptions that indicate the low level reached by the literature of those in charge of this movement. Yesterday’s statement is the best proof of that.”

“For weeks, the presidency has preferred not to engage in any argument with the “future” despite the misleading and rude expressions used, to pave the way for initiatives to address the government situation, especially after the position of Parliament in response to the president’s letter and the subsequent move by Speaker Berri in cooperation with Hezbollah,” he said.

“What was mentioned in yesterday’s message, however, necessitates a halt at the following points:

First: The continued evasion of Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri from assuming his responsibilities in forming a balanced and chartered government that takes into account competence and efficiency and achieves participation constitutes a further violation of the Constitution and the National Accord Document and reflects a clear and deliberate desire to disrupt the government formation process, as indicated in the President’s letter to the Council of Ministers Representatives.

Second: The claim that the President of the Republic is constantly attempting to undermine the Taif Agreement and its constitutional effects through his positions is the height of lies, slander, and public deception, because the President of the Republic based all of his positions and decisions on the Constitution and applied it in accordance with the provisions, as well as the National Accord Document with all of its provisions. He is the one who is attempting to overturn the constitution and alter its explicit text.

Third: The Prime Minister-designate insists on trying to usurp the powers of the President of the Republic and his natural right to respect the constitution by resorting to practices that strike customs and principles, and inventing new rules in forming the government, explicitly violating the national balance upon which Lebanon was founded. The saddest part is that he imposes on the President of the Republic the consequences of his violations and abuses, which are incompatible with due diligence in the framework of cooperation between the pillars of the state in the best interest of Lebanon, as well as the parliamentary and popular trust that any government must have within the framework of the constitution.

Fourth: The PM-designate and his movement intentionally hold the mandate of President Michel Aoun responsible for the economic, financial and social conditions that have devolved, at a time when everyone is informed of the difficult financial conditions and debts inherited by the covenant that are the “fruit” of the practices of the PM-designate team and his mismanagement of state affairs since the beginning of the year.

Fifth: By firing a warning shot at the proposal to convene a national dialogue conference in Baabda Palace to address the country’s situation and try to find a solution to the current governmental crisis, the Future Movement hopes to derail any attempt to form a government and implement the necessary reforms to ensure the country’s stability and prosperity.

Sixth: The Republic’s Presidency, which will not turn a blind eye to the low level of vulgar language or lies, deception, and insolence used, is satisfied with this level of clarification and will not say more in order to be prepared, and yet again, for the President’s ongoing efforts to find positive solutions to the government crisis that the PM-designate has created.”

He concluded: “One should highlight that the Republic’s Presidency is today at a crossroads with those who defy the constitution or remain silent about everything that is going on, knowing that Lebanon’s supreme interest, and with it the interests of the people who are the source of power, transcends all considerations..”
