President Aoun condemns storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli occupation forces, tackles security situation with minister Sleem

General Michel Aoun, President of the Republic, sharply condemned the Israeli occupation troops’ takeover of Al-Aqsa Mosque and their ongoing attacks on civilians.

“Israeli occupation forces’ continuous onslaught on the sanctities of Jerusalem’s holy places will not affect the Holy City’s identity,” the President said. Instead, these attacks scream out to the world’s conscience for pressure to put a stop to them.”

 

President Aoun also expressed his solidarity with the Jerusalemites and the Palestinians who with their steadfastness stand up to attempts to Judaize Al-Aqsa, in flagrant violation of international laws and covenants.

The President’s positions came in a Tweet on his Twitter account.

Defense Minister:

The President met National Defense Minister, Maurice Sleem, today at the Presidential Palace.

The security situation and the needs of the institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense were tackled.

The meeting also addressed the measures adopted to secure the protection of the gas transmission line in the north in light of the discussions that took place in the ministerial committee chaired by Minister Sleem.

MP Traboulsi:

President Aoun received MP Edgar Traboulsi and discussed with him the need to protect citizens’ deposits in banks, in addition to the social situation and the educational affairs.

The conditions of schools, the investigation of the Beirut port bombing crime, the demarcation of the southern maritime borders, and the parliamentary elections were also deliberated in addition to situation in the region in light of recent developments.

Congratulation Cables:

The President received a Ramadan congratulatory telegram from Moroccan King Mohammed VI, in addition to a congratulatory message from the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha.
