President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, signed Decree No. 8728, dated January 26, 2022, to be referred as draft law to the Parliament.

Law 8728 authorizes the collection of imports as in the past and the disbursement of expenditures starting from the first of February 2022 until the issuance of the 2022 budget law, on the basis of the 12th rule, provided that the appropriations that will be added or dropped from the 2021 budget are taken into consideration when the law is approved.

Teaching fees in vocational schools:

The President also signed Decree No. 8729 of January 26, 2022 amending teaching wages for hourly teaching in institutes and schools of vocational and technical education starting from the start of the 2021-2022 school year, as follows:

1- In the official technical institutes, an institute classification (non-university classification):

The first category is 92 thousand LBP, the second category is 77 thousand LBP, and the third category is 63 thousand LBP.

2- In official technical schools (school classification):

The first category is 77 thousand LBP, the second category is 63 thousand LBP, and the third category is 53 thousand LBP.

Amendments apply from the start of the school year 2021-2022 for a renewable year.

In schools and high schools:

President Aoun also signed Decree No. 8730 of January 26, 2022, to amend teaching wages for hourly teachers in public schools and secondary schools starting from the start of the 2021-2022 school year to become as follows:

-Kindergarten and basic education in three programs: 32,000 LBP for non-vacation holders, 40,000 LBP for university and educational leave holders.

The decree stipulated amending the hourly wage for teaching procedural subjects in various stages of education to become as follows: 40,000 LBP for educational and university licenses holders, 36,000 LBP for technical licenses in nursery education and informatics.

The decree amended the hourly wages for teaching in public secondary schools as follows: 60,000 LBP for second-class contractors, and 72,000 LBP for first-class contractors.

These amendments are applied from the start of the school year 2021-2022 for a renewable year.
