President Michel Aoun summoned the Governor of Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, today, Thursday, after the bank announced the final lifting of fuel subsidies yesterday.
“President Aoun summoned this morning the Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, after the governor’s decision last night to eliminate fuel subsidies,” the Presidency of the Lebanese Republic announced in a tweet via “Twitter.”

“As of August 12, 2021, the Central Bank of Lebanon will ensure the necessary credits for gasoline, based on the old mechanism, but by calculating the price of the dollar on the Lebanese pound according to market prices,” the bank said in a statement yesterday, on Wednesday.
