The President of the Republic Michel Aoun tweeted on Monday warning the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank who will be meeting tomorrow with the management consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal against any attempt to disrupt the forensic audit process.

Aoun said: “I warn the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, who will be meeting tomorrow with the Alvarez & Marsal against any attempt to disrupt the forensic audit, and I hold them accountable in the name of the Lebanese people.”

Lebanon’s central bank said in a statement on April 1, that it is ready to facilitate a forensic audit process by Alvarez & Marsal and will discuss this in a virtual meeting with the restructuring company on April 6.

Alvarez & Marsal pulled out of the audit procedure in November, saying it had not received the information it required, prompting parliament in December to lift banking secrecy for one year.
