President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, announced shortly that he has signed the government’s resignation decree.

Addressing the popular crowds who gathered at Baabda Palace to bid him farwwell, Aoun said: “Today is a great gathering…I see in you men of resistance, most of you were with me in the first battle. You are with me and I am with you today at the end of a stage, but there is another stage that requires a strong struggle…I left behind a situation that needs struggle to finalize…”

He added: “The judiciary no longer obtains the rights of the people. We could not bring the governor of the central bank to court, so who protects him, and who is his partner..? All of them in the ruling system for 32 years have brought us to our current situation…”
