The Director of the Office of the Minister of Communications Ziad Shalfoun explained that the Ministry of Telecom does not want to increase prices, but rather aims to sustain the sector.

He added: “We feel with the people, but in order to secure a good telecommunications service, we have to increase the tariff.”

In a radio interview, Shalfoun indicated that the tariff would not be increased randomly: “We will take into consideration the situation of people with low incomes, stressing that communications will be within the reach of the Lebanese people.”

He pointed out that the final decision was not taken regarding the pricing, but in principle it will be set at Sayrafa’s exchange rate, and there will be a package for people with limited income.
