Qatar’s emir sends letter to Lebanon’s PM, urges swift formation of cabinet

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, has stressed his country’s “support for Lebanon and the brotherly Lebanese people” in a letter he sent to the caretaker Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Hassan Diab, the National News Agency reported on Monday.

In the letter, Sheikh Tamim called on “the Lebanese parties to prioritize the national interest, show responsiveness to international endeavors and expedite the formation of a new government that would address challenges and crises as discussed during Diab’s visit to the State of Qatar.”

The Lebanese parties, he added, should “work on overcoming them (obstacles) and establish stability in Lebanon.”

Diab also received a letter of congratulation on Eid al-Fitr from the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
