Salam says, “Getting out of the crisis is painful, but we have to start working from now!”

The Minister of Economy and Trade Amin Salam discussed with the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Olivier De Schutter several topics in the field of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), providing support for small and medium-sized companies, food security, the cost of living and the challenges arising from the rise in commodity prices.

Salam stressed that “the path out of the crisis is painful, but we have to start now or never, and in every crisis there is an opportunity although solutions are dreadful, but they have become more necessary than ever.”

Salam noted that “the measures we will take must reflect the emergency situation, so the rescue plan is an emergency plan and not just a recovery plan.”
