Saydet Zgharta Hospital issued on Sunday the following statement:

“Following the death of three patients – at different times at dawn on Sunday – in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit and after some news reports were posted by media outlets, we hereby clarify the following:

First: There were no power outages at the hospital.

Second: Hospital patients did not run out of oxygen, and alternative emergency sources were readily available. The ICU section is also equipped with a third source in case of an extreme emergency.

Third: A delegation dispatched by the Ministry of Health visited the hospital immediately; it inspected the patients’ files and the oxygen condition at the hospital. The Ministry of Health will be explaining what happened and will be following up on the matter.”
