Ain al-Hilweh camp is witnessing an operational step today at 1:00 PM to alleviate the tension that has arisen in the camp following the recent clashes. This step involves the deployment of the Joint Palestinian Security Force in the areas of Sefsaf, Ras al-Ahmar, Tireh, and Barraq, which were considered contact points between the conflicting parties within the camp: “Fatah Movement” and the “Muslim Youth Gathering.” These areas witnessed the fiercest rounds of fighting between them.
The commander of the Joint Palestinian Security Force inside the camp, General Mahmoud al-Ajouri, affirmed that the force’s members would begin their deployment today at 1:00 PM in Sefsaf, Ras al-Ahmar, Tireh, and Barraq. He pointed out that the Joint Force represents all Palestinian factions, including Hamas, Ansar, and the Islamic Jihad Movement, and everyone agreed on this step during the Palestinian Action Committee meeting. He added, “We have guarantees to implement the deployment without any problems today.”
He further stated, “This step will help withdraw the armed individuals and all armed manifestations, thereby relieving the tension within the camp and reassuring the residents, ensuring their return to the camp.” He concluded by saying, “This action will be followed later by the next step, which is the evacuation of schools from armed individuals to hand them over to UNRWA administration. The issue of surrendering the wanted individuals remains under consideration in order to retrieve all the explosive devices and restore life to normal within the camp.”
