On Monday, Sandra De Waele, the ambassador of the European Union to Lebanon, paid Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, the deputy head of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council, a visit of acquaintances.

According to reports, the overall state of affairs in Lebanon and the surrounding area, as well as the events in Gaza, were discussed during the visit.

In a statement released by the Council, Sheikh Al-Khatib greeted the ambassador of the European Union and wished her luck in fostering closer ties between Lebanon and the member states of the EU.
