“Strong Republic”: We will not participate in the government

Representative George Adwan announced, on behalf of the “Strong Republic” bloc, after meeting with Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati, that “the position of Lebanese Forces is clear, and we have informed Mikati that we will not participate in the government, and this is not a position related to the person of the designated president.”

He stressed, “Lebanese Forces are motivated to achieve the people’s demands, and any demand that contradicts with people’s demands will not be accepted.”

He said: “The battle today is neither Christian nor Islamic, but rather between the authority that brought the country here, and a party that wants change. We and the movement have different positions, the battle of the movement is authoritarian, and our battle is the change.”

He stressed, “We will only ally with countries that serve Lebanon’s policy and are not influenced by anyone, and the evidence is when all parties agreed on Ambassador Mustafa Adib, we opposed this assignment and did not name him.”
