The Secretary-General of the Supreme Defense Council, Major General Mahmoud Al-Asmar, announced, after the council meeting, that “the request of the judicial investigator in the crime of the Beirut port explosion was discussed, to obtain permission to prosecute the Director General of State Security.” Major General Tony Saliba, as a defendant, the appropriate decision regarding this matter was taken, and the Council took decisions on issues within its competence.
