The Supreme Judicial Council’s Media office issued the following clarification statement:

Commenting on what happened yesterday at the Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries branch in the Jeb Jennin area, and the accompanying comments through some media and social media sites, dealing with the work of the Appeals Public Prosecution Office in the Bekaa, the Media Office of the Supreme Judicial Council conveys the Appeals Public Prosecutor in the Bekaa Judge Munif Barakat’s clarifications, on this subject, according to the following:

“Following the incident that took place on January 18, 2022 at the Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries’ branch in the Jeb Jennin area, the Appeal Public Prosecutor in the Bekaa issued, in accordance with the provisions of the law, a reference to seize the amount that was obtained under threat, from the aforementioned bank branch, and until the issue of handing over the seized items is decided upon, by the competent judicial authority.”
