Syndicate of Money Changers: We are not receiving subsidized dollar since the beginning of the lockdown

The Syndicate of Money Changers in Lebanon issued the following statement:

Since the beginning of the USD injection, supported by the ‘Banque du Liban’, to some “A” exchange companies and institutions in order to meet the needs and requirements of citizens, according to the decision issued by the Council of Ministers No. 371/on 12/06/2020, and according to the statement issued by  ‘Banque du Liban’ on 09/06/2020,
The Syndicate of Money Changers would like to highlight that the sums delivered to the cashiers were not sufficient to meet the daily requirements, and they were decreasing in succession as they reached the amount of $ 10,000, which is considered a vulnerable amount per day for each moneychanger due to the needs of the Lebanese market and high and growing request on the US dollar.

The Syndicate would also like to clarify that since the declaration of the state of emergency and the beginning of the lockdown, the dollar supported by the Banque du Liban no longer reaches Money Changers in accordance with the aforementioned decision and statement, which prevents the ability to meet the demands of citizens.
