The Syrian Embassy in Lebanon on Tuesday dismissed reports that it is meddling in the impending Lebanese parliamentary elections.

“Some parties continue to promote suspicions of Syrian Embassy political and security meddling in the upcoming elections. It’s no surprise that both sides persist in their delusions and erroneous bets, as well as their efforts to distort the truth and create adversaries “The Embassy issued a statement.

“The Embassy reiterates its respect for the sovereignty of Lebanon, and it stresses that it does not intervene in its domestic affairs. It also stressed the fraternal bilateral relations,” the statement added.

“We hope that the elections constitute a chance for Lebanon and the Lebanese to head towards a future filled with security, stability, growth and development,” it concluded.
