Teachers plan to strike the new school year
The Union Coordination Committee said in a statement issued following a meeting held in the office of the Minister of Finance in the presence of the Minister of Education and Higher Education “that the Minister of Finance’s proposal was below the required level and that it did not meet the minimum requirements of the professors and teachers.”
The committee affirmed, “with all its components, from the secondary, basic, professional and technical unions, as well as the teachers’ union, its position on boycotting the school year hoping that its demands will be taken into account, so that teachers can carry out their duties.”
The committee pointed out that “the sit-in on Wednesday, September 8, will not be the final action, as sit-ins will be announced in the governorates, so that teachers from various regions can participate and raise the voice.”
The committee declared that it would keep its meetings open to follow up on all developments.
