“The country is on the edge of a societal chaos,” says Doctors’ Syndicate Head

The head of the Doctors Syndicate, Sharaf Abou Sharaf, gave a speech during the launch of a workshop on protecting Lebanese deposits in banks and announcing the formation and start of the work of the Depositors’ Rights Committee, in which he stressed “the need for the unions of liberal professions to cooperate and support them, and to hold more meetings and endeavors to come up and implement solutions to settle the banking crisis.”

“We must help push things in the right direction in preparation for returning the deposits to their owners within a specific time limit,” he said. “We must define responsibilities and develop a rescue plan as well as comprehensive financial, economic, political, and legal reforms in collaboration with all concerned parties.”

“Society is looking for efforts from the free trade unions,” Abou Sharaf said. “In order for us to fight extreme poverty, extensive immigration, and a country that is on the verge of a social explosion today, such a step could address the crisis.”
