“The diesel ship has begun unloading,” Abou Chakra says

The Head of the Syndicate of Gas Station Owners Fadi Abou Chakra told the National News Agency that the “diesel ship that was exposed to a breakdown in Amchit last Sunday began unloading after several contacts made to resolve this matter.”

He appealed to officials in the government and the Parliament “to consider the issue of customs duties on gasoline after approving the budget, to adopt Sayrafa’s rate for customs duties instead of 1,500 LBP, because any increase in the gasoline price will be borne by the citizen who can no longer bear more burdens. Station owners and distributors will not bear any additional fees or any increase in prices.

Abou Chakra pointed out that “the price of a gasoline cannister has reached the threshold of 360,000 LBP, in addition to the rise in the global oil price and the high exchange rate of the dollar in Lebanon,” stressing that “the situation does not bear more increases, especially that global oil prices may surge.”
