“The government will carry out its commitments to implement World Bank-financed projects,” Aoun confirms

General Michel Aoun, President of the Republic, presented at Baabda Palace with the Regional Director of the World Bank Group in the Middle East, Saroj Kumar Jha, the files that the World Bank is working to provide funding for Lebanon, particularly the social safety net project that provides cash assistance to needy groups in Lebanese society.

Kumar Jha expressed gratitude to President Aoun for “the help he offered to launch this initiative, which serves multiple families, and they are expected to get this aid by March 2022.”

They also discussed the World Bank’s involvement in funding the process of importing gas and power to Lebanon via Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, as well as the processes that must be followed to hasten the conclusion of this problem.

Kumar Jha stressed that “the World Bank continues to provide support to Lebanon in financing a number of vital and basic projects, after overcoming the obstacles that prevent their speedy completion.”

President Aoun thanked Kumar Jha for his “efforts to help Lebanon,” stressing that the government “will fulfill its obligations in order to complete projects financed by the World Bank.”
