“The surge in medicine prices is concerning,” Araji confirms

MP Assem Araji, the head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, stated that “the concerns that I heard throughout the previous two days in terms of the inability to get drugs are numerous.”

“The growth in the pricing of some drugs is scary, that is, between 8 and 10 times,” he said in a televised interview, emphasizing that “we are confronting a catastrophic scene.”

“The fundamental problem is that the “Banque of Lebanon” informed the Ministry of Health that it has $35 million to support the medicine, and here the priorities were defined,” Araji said, adding, “Therefore, I called for a meeting of the Parliamentary Health Committee in the Grand Serail tomorrow.”

“Measures required now are the formation of a ministerial committee to follow up on the problem,” noting that “from the start, the mechanism of subsidies was incorrect,” Araji concluded.
