Trade unions: We will proceed with our strike to implement financial assistance

The Federation of Trade Unions in Public Institutions announced that the strike would continue until the beginning of next week.

The Federation of Trade Unions in Public Institutions issued the following statement:

“Whereas, the union met with Dr. Hassan Diab, the head of the caretaker government, who demonstrated the positivity needed to apply the effects of exceptional financial assistance and transportation allowance to employees and workers of public institutions, including social security, in a manner similar to that of public departments. And, because positivity isn’t enough on its own; it also requires decisions from those affected or an amendment to the relevant decree or other decree or decision, the federation’s Executive Council calls on those affected to work to reach the required decision, and announces that the strike will continue until the beginning of next week.

The next steps will be decided at a meeting on Monday that will include the following unions: EDL workers and employees, users of the National Social Security Fund, Ogero workers and employees, users and workers of the Litani River Authority, employees of the Kadisha Electricity Corporation, the union of joint transport workers, and workers in the Regie (Tobacco Control Authority).
