Turkey’s Çavuşoğlu, Minister Bou Habib tackle ways to stimulate tourism and energy sectors

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, stated that he “came to confirm Turkey’s support for Lebanon, and urged Prime Minister Najib Mikati to visit Turkey and begin preliminary preparations for the visit.”

“We discussed how to promote tourism and energy areas, and the first destination for the Lebanese people is Turkey, and the Turkish people’s passion for Lebanon is well known,” he said after meeting his Lebanese counterpart Abdullah Bou Habib. We talked about regional matters, and we’re the ones most affected by the Syrian tragedy. We do not want the brotherly Lebanese people to pay the price for regional negotiations, and we wish to strengthen our bilateral ties.

Çavuşoğlu emphasized “the government’s support for holding the general parliamentary elections on time,” adding, “We have always sacrificed Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, and security, and provided the necessary support after the Beirut and Akkar Blasts, and we support the army and security forces for Lebanon’s stability and security.”

Çavuşoğlu expressed hope that “the Gulf situation would be handled by mutual respect, dialogue, and diplomatic techniques,” and stated that “we are ready to play our role in this regard.”
