UN : For an independent and impartial investigation into Beirut port bombing

Najat Rushdi, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Lebanon, confirmed on her Twitter account, that there is an urgent need for an independent and impartial investigation into Beirut port bombing.

She added, “Justice must be achieved, and the families of Beirut port explosion’s victims, have the right to know the truth.”

It is noteworthy that the judicial investigator, Tariq Bitar, was officially notified yesterday, Monday, by the request of Representative Nohad Machnouk, that the investigator Bitar be suspended of his mission.
This means that Judge Bitar will no longer be able to continue the interrogation sessions, including the session of Kamil Daher and Ali Hassan Khalil.

The suspension decision is considered official, but not final, since the Court of Appeal will decide whether it will reject the request or accept it, and then things will return to point zero, but until now it is only a round, that Bitar has lost,  among a  battle between the authority and the judiciary.
