The UNIFIL spokesperson, Andrea Tenenti, stated in response to a question about the situation on both sides of the border in light of recent developments:

“The peacekeeping mission closely monitors the dramatic events unfolding in Israel, and peacekeeping troops are positioned along the Blue Line to maintain stability and assist in preventing escalation.”

He added, “We have also reinforced our presence throughout our operational area to adapt to developments, including anti-rocket launch operations.”

The UNIFIL spokesperson continued, “Our leadership has maintained continuous communication with the parties since the start of events to ensure effective coordination and avoid misunderstandings.”

Tenenti concluded by saying, “Our primary goal is to maintain stability along the Blue Line and avoid any escalation that could have serious consequences for the residents living in the region.”
