Amidst large military reinforcements in order to secure the passage of Gebran Bassil’s convoy, “Sawt Beirut International” correspondent stated that a number of residents in the Bekaa’a Taalbaya area are gathering to protest the visit of the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, to Zahle,

One of the protesters said that they would not allow Bassil to pass because of his corruption and failed management of the electricity file, and his failure to fulfill the promises he made regarding securing the electricity, noting that Bassil is a corrupt politician like other officials.

Addressing the army, he added that instead of the army’s reinforcements coming to secure the passage of a political man’s convoy, it would have been more useful to arrest the politicians wanted for the investigation into the crime of bombing the port and are candidates for the parliamentary elections.

He said that the protesters are peaceful and their only weapon is the Lebanese flag, wishing the people of the Bekaa to gather and help prevent Bassil from going to Zahle.

Another protester denounced the recruitment of large military reinforcements to protect the convoy of a politician who cut off the Lebanese electricity for years, pointing out that Bassil’s movements in the regions, are an attempt to ignite strife.
