Assistant to the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, announced that the administration of US President Joe Biden is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions on Lebanese officials due to the failure to elect a president.

Barbara Leaf added, “We are working with regional and European allies to push the Lebanese parliament to do its job,” noting that “the possibility of state collapse in Lebanon is still present.”
