The Minister of Finance in the caretaker government, Dr. Ghazi Wazni, welcomed the Director of the Regional Economic Department at the French Embassy, Francois De Ricolfis, and Sales Director of the Smith Company, the manufacturer of scanners, Jacques Bernardi.
During the meeting, according to Wazni’s media office, the assembled discussed the issue of the scanner presented by the French state, which the Lebanese customs administration received a week ago, and the start of training the French team of employees on the use and operation of the device for a period of three weeks.
Wazni stressed that “fighting against smuggling begins with the deployment of scanners that contribute to thwarting smuggling operations and tampering with cargo data in all seaports, land crossings and Rafic Hariri International Airport.”
