The President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, told the US Treasury group that he met with today that Lebanon is still fighting corruption, money laundering, and terrorist funding.

“The fight against corruption will continue uninterrupted throughout the balance of the presidential term,” Aoun stated, “and one of its most visible expressions is the forensic audit of the Banque du Liban’s records.”

Aoun also met with Marshal Martin Sampson, the British Ministry of Defense’s chief adviser for Middle East affairs, and stated, “War is not an effective way to resolve conflicts, and we hope that Russia and Ukraine would resort negotiation so that peace and stability can be restored quickly.”
