MP Michel Daher tweeted the following:

“The fuel solution reached today in Baabda Palace will drain 225 million dollars from the Central Bank’s assets and will not stop smuggling, storage, or waste, but it may exacerbate the crisis because it is only temporary and will last for a month, thus opening for monopolists to store fuels, causing people to suffer in front of gas stations.”

ان الحل الذي تم الإتفاق عليه اليوم في قصر بعبدا بخصوص المحروقات سيستنزف ٢٢٥ مليون دولار من موجودات البنك المركزي ولن يوقف التهريب ولا التخزين ولا الهدر بل قد يفاقم الأزمة لان هذا الحل مؤقت ومدته شهر وسيفتح شهية المحتكرين لتخزين المحروقات لتستمر معاناة الناس أمام محطات الوقود
