Energy Minister Walid Fayyad confirmed that “there are abuses with regard to diesel distributors who exceed the procedures and fees specified for the price of diesel. There is a black market and commissions of up to 10 or 15 percent are taken. This is a crime and the “saboteurs” must be prosecuted and measures taken against them.

As for Economy Minister Amin Salam, he said: “Anyone who takes advantage of the difficult situation, especially during the storm, and monopolizes diesel or raises prices, will be pursued.”

He added, “There is an improvement in the performance of generator owners, and either they destroy each other, or they must follow the instructions and prices set, with extreme accuracy.”
