Head of Food Importers Syndicate, Hani Bohsali, affirmed, “the commitment to amend the price regulations and pricing at 19000 exchange rate , referring to full cooperation between the union and the Ministry of Economy, which is sending patrols to ensure this commitment.”
Bohsali explained via radio interview, that “the general reality that citizens notice is that prices are adjusted upwards faster than downwards,” stressing that “pricing from the importer to the merchants, is done at the same pace, whether upwards or downwards.”
He also called on merchants and supermarket owners to “expedite in adjusting commodity prices in line with the dollar exchange rate, knowing that there is difficulty for small shops to bear the burden of a sudden drop in prices by about thirty percent.”
