Will Lebanon be subjected to a new rise in COVID-19 cases?

The Ministry of Public Health reported today 40 deaths and 2,460 new COVID-19 confirmed cases.

In parallel, the head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, MP Assem Araji, previously stressed that “continuing to adhere to preventive measures is necessary, despite the fall in the number of cases,” wishing that “the numbers of injuries will continue to decrease, because our economic and health situation no longer tolerates what we are living.”

“During the blessed month of Ramadan, there will be large gatherings of prayers and breakfasts,” Araji said in a television interview. “From here, I call on the Lebanese not to gather to limit the spread of the virus.”

Regarding the complications of vaccinations, Araji emphasized that “the complications caused by vaccines are very few. For example, Johnson & Johnson’s experiments were conducted on 6 million people, while only 6 of them experienced rare clots. The slow pace of vaccination in Lebanon is for international rather than local reasons. According to the head of the World Health Organization, 10 countries account for 75% of the vaccines around the world”, Araji concluded.
