Caretaker Minister of Telecommunications, Talal Hawat, said that “telecommunication and internet bills are priced in Lebanese pounds,” confirming to citizens that “prices will not be modified in the near term.”
The all-inclusive collapse is inching closer, and the country’s service sectors have actually started crumbling one after another, however, Hawat indicated that “the telecommunications sector is still fine, because “we expected a hike in dollar, and we set our plan on this basis.”
On the other hand, in light of the financial and economic crises afflicting the country, the national currency’s depreciation, and the high cost of living, Ogero Director General Imad Kreidieh revealed that “the telecom and internet bill may be priced at the exchange rate 3,900 LBP instead of 1,500 LBP, which will almost double the bill.”
Kreidieh said that “the government only decides in this matter and not Ogero,” considering that “it is impossible to survive on the exchange rate 1,507 LBP.”
