Hezbollah fulfilled its promises to Bassil.. “We owe him nothing.”

Some are wondering about the relationship between Hezbollah and the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, after it has went through a lot of back and forth in the stage leading up to the parliamentary elections, but after it, it is not the same as before, as the Party cosiders that it has presented Bassil with what is beyond his dreams.

Parliamentary sources close to the Shiite duo describe Basil as annoying, who took advantage of President Michel Aoun’s distinguished relationship with Hezbollah to improve his political situation, and in turn Hezbollah kept silent about Basil’s sometimes childish behavior.

Sources told “Sawt Beirut International” website, “What bothered the Party the most, was Bassil’s way of dealing with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, but in the end, Basil repaired his relationship with Berri, but not for free, but rather for an electoral cost par excellence, as Berri aproved on icnluding the Free Patriotic Movement’s candidates in the lists of the Shiite duo and gave him approximately 5 to 6 representatives.”

According to the sources, Hezbollah considers that it has fulfilled its promise to Bassil and is no longer able to provide more, and the ball is in Basil’s court today, after Berri was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, and that his demands regarding the government are not right, especially his demand for the Ministry of Energy, as Hezbollah does not accept that the Ministry of Energy remains with Bassil. This is the least that should be done regarding the party’s environment, especially after Bassil and his current failed to manage “Energy”.

The sources continue, Bassil will finally acquiesce in Hezbollah’s demands, regarding naming the next prime minister. The decision was taken to rename the caretaker prime minister, Najib Mikati, because the stage does not tolerate dispute, as the next government will not last more than 5 months with the end of President Aoun’s term, therefore, Hezbullah will not engage in a fierce battle, and it even favors the re-appointment of some of the current ministers.

The sources stress that all waht Basil is doing on the issue of Mikati, is nothing but with the aim of improving conditions that he is not entitled to, and he is aware that had it not been for Hezbollah and Amal movement, he would not have obtained 17 deputies, but so far he has refused to accept his new reality, and Hezbollah has decided not to be engaged in Bassil’s battles, at a time Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah was clear after the elections, “dialogue to get out of the crisis”.
