Despite the positive atmosphere that accompanies the meetings between President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati, government forming is subjected to pressures greater than Lebanon.

There are future scenarios that control Lebanon, all of which are executable, from the big explosion of the people in the streets, through Mikati’s apology, to the possibility of forming a government.

The three scenarios, today, control the fate of the “last hours in Lebanon”. According to sources, the president-designate was subjected to great pressure, especially after the explosion in Akkar. He was advised not to complete meetings with the President of the Republic and apologize, but Mikati asked for some time as a last chance to reveal the reality of the obstruction he is facing.

The sources indicated to “Sawt Beirut International” that Mikati still have patience. But hi patience has limits, and the current week is crucial, during which Mikati will determine the apology or the formation of the government.

The sources reveal that the pressures are very high in Mikati’s supporters, and he is not about to make concessions, or give the blocking third to Aoun demands in an implicit way by putting up some of the names affiliated with him under the guise of independent ministers.

On the other hand, diplomatic circles say to “Sawt Beirut International” that the decision-making capitals put Aoun under pressure to authorize, the first of which is the US ambassador to Beirut Dorothy Shea, who insisted on Aoun speeding up the formation process, because the situation in Lebanon is on the brink of an explosion, which the authority in Lebanon does not want at all.

The diplomatic sources added, “Aoun is afraid of Mikati’s apology, because it reveals the intentions of Aoun and those behind him, which is that they do not want to form a government that will lose them the gains they achieved through the government of Hassan Diab, and they prefer to continue until the next parliamentary elections.”

Although any future government will not be able to extricate Lebanon from crises, according to the sources, the formation of the government can contribute to venting the popular tension for a short period until elections are held. And then everything will be determined in time, because the expected popular explosion cannot be spared any of the politicians, and puts Lebanon in front of chaos, and this matter has become a great fear among the ruling class that can accept a new government, provided that the popular explosion comes and overthrows it.
