Erdogan says ready to visit Moscow for Ukraine talks

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that he is ready to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow to try to defuse rising tensions over Ukraine.

Because of Turkey’s delivery of combat drones to Kyiv, the Kremlin has been wary of Erdogan’s previous attempts at mediation.

Turkey has already offered holding discussions between Russian and Ukrainian officials in Istanbul under the auspices of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Erdogan is scheduled to visit Kyiv in early February for discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
