On behalf of King Salman, Saudi FM to represent Kingdom at Arab Summit

On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah will represent the Kingdom at the two-day Arab League summit that will kick off in Algeria on Tuesday.

Prince Faisal departed the Kingdom on Tuesday at the head of a delegation that includes deputy Foreign Minister Eng. Waleed Al-Khuraiji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance for International Relations Dr. Riyad Al-Khureif, Saudi Ambassador to Algeria Abdullah Al-Buseiri, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Abdulrahman Al-Jumaa, and Director General of the Foreign Minister’s Office Abdulrahman Al-Dawood.

Saudi Arabia’s participation at the summit underscores its effective role in bolstering joint Arab work. It underlines its firm stances towards several joint challenges facing the Arab region and world, including reaching a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in line with international resolutions and the 2002 Arab peace initiative.

The summit will also be an opportunity to highlight Saudi Arabia’s efforts in communicating with the parties of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis to find a political solution that would resolve the conflict and halt the military operations.

Prince Faisal and the Saudi delegation will address the latest developments in the Arab world, including the crisis in Yemen and the Kingdom’s efforts in supporting all means that can empower the Presidential Leadership Council as it seeks to achieve sustainable peace in the war-torn country.

Saudi Arabia will also tackle Iran’s meddling in the affairs of Arab countries. It will also address Iran’s nuclear program, reiterating its stance that calls for intensifying international efforts aimed at preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.

It renewed its call on Iran to cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency and to take serious steps to build trust between it and the Arab world and international community.
