“PCR Tests funds have been referred to audit,” says Lebanese Minister of Health

The media office of Firas Abiad, Minister of Public Health, made the following statement:

“The Ministry of Public Health presented the explanation for the cost of PCR testing at the airport, in all its aspects, before the Head of Public Prosecution at the Audit Bureau, Judge Fawzi Khamis, who launched an investigation into the subject.”

The ministry is awaiting a judgment regarding the case to answer the primary question asked, which is the fate of the money spent for these tests over the preceding time and fulfilled by the airlines.

This is the most pressing issue in the case, since it is worth noting that the Ministry of Public Health decreased the existing test fee paid by arrivals to thirty dollars, after airlines charged fifty dollars.

In terms of continuing to conduct testing at the airport, it is required in view of the enormous number of entering diseases, which may sometimes surpass 300 injuries per day, and what this entails in terms of a direct threat to contacts and the safety of the community environment. As a result, explanation is necessary.
