Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas awarded the martyred Palestinian journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh the Jerusalem Star Medal, during an official farewell ceremony organized for her at the Palestinian Presidency in Ramallah.

In a brief speech, Abbas held the Israeli occupation responsible for the killing of Abu Aqleh, and refused to conduct any joint investigation with the occupation authorities, stressing the importance of this crime not going unpunished.
