At this time of the year, the students’ families prepare to receive the new school year and buy books and stationery, and the preparations until now are shy, as a result of the acceleration of the economic crisis and the rapid rise in the exchange rate.
The high value of annual school fees, and the inability to bear the burdens of books and stationeries’ prices add to the families’ suffering.
The prices have become crazy, especially for people who work in the public sector, or who are still receiving their salaries in Lebanese pounds.
As for those who receive fresh dollars, things are different.
Parents of the students of the French mission schools, and those that import books from France, started a book bazaar in many schools, where parents have created WhatsApp groups to exchange books.
