Circular regarding checks in banks

The Association of Banks in Lebanon issued a circular today recommending that banks accept all checks whose value does not exceed fifteen thousand dollars, which are deposited by the beneficiaries in their accounts with it, provided that they are not requested to be cashed or transferred after collection outside Lebanon.

In a statement, the Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, called on all holders of the Lebanese pound, whether citizens and institutions, who want to convert it into the US dollar, based on Circular 161 and its effects, and on clauses No. 75 and 83 of the Monetary and Credit Law, to submit requests to Lebanese banks, as of today, at the rate of SAYRAFA, provided that these requests are fully met within twenty-four hours, and this offer is open and available daily.
