“Every attempt to form cabinet is deemed positive,” Abbas Ibrahim tells SBI

Major General Abbas Ibrahim, head of Lebanon’s General Security agency, has been recently exerting efforts in order to form a new government and ease off tension in the country.

The security official visited on Wednesday Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Al-Rai in Bkirki for that purpose.

When asked by Sawt Beirut International whether his efforts were “positive” and whether they will lead to a positive outcome, he said “every move and attempt is deemed positive.”

Major General Ibrahim also commented on the incident that took place on his way back from the meeting he held with Patriarch Al-Rai, when a number of protesters intercepted his convoy, saying “I understand what happened and I understand the citizens’ demands.”
